The sauna sits on large granite rocks that were excavated when this quarry was still active, they were flattened and levelled to receive the green oak frame. Clad externally in feather edge larch with custom made copper tiles which are already starting to patina down to an eventual verde green. Internally more larch forms the sarking and chesnut for the changing room. Alder was used for all the panelling and benches in the sauna box due to its great stability of thermal qualities, never feeling too hot against bare skin. A diverse and rich palette of materials that will only get better with age.
